Last week, Shopify rolled out the 'Shopify Editions Summer ’23', with over 100 product updates, launches, enhancements, and more. 

Amazing? Certainly.

Overwhelming? It doesn’t have to be. 

Here are our top 9 picks from Shopify’s Summer 23 updates for eCommerce merchants using the platform: 

1. Shopify Magic

2023 has been all about AI, and Shopify sure wasn’t going to be left behind. With a suite of AI-powered features integrated directly into Shopify’s products and workflows, Shopify Magic combines the latest advancements in AI technology with Shopify's data.
What we love: The tool’s automated customer support, instant chats, and email optimizations help merchants provide a more personalized experience, helping them sell more.
Access: Available for all Shopify merchants.

Noticed a new section on app store listings? Shopify is using its recently-launched AI to provide its merchants with App Store merchant summaries. With these, you can quickly summarize pages of user reviews in an easy-to-scan format.

5. Subscriptions App

Want your shoppers to be able to subscribe to your products? With the newly-launched, free Subscriptions App, setting up and managing subscriptions is straightforward. Choose your products, set prices and frequency, and customize subscription options directly on product pages.

6. Shopify Bundles — Full Release

Using a different app for bundling? Now you can offer fixed product bundles using the free Shopify Bundles app. Need more control over your bundles? You can still use any Shopify Partner app or use custom APIs for your store.

7. Shopify Collective

This release has us excited. You can now increase your sales volume by curating and adding complementary products from other brands on Shopify to your store. Add products in minutes, and earn a margin on what you sell. Feels a bit like drop-shipping but for celebrities and influencers, doesn’t it? Exciting as it is, we want to find out more before we declare the verdict on this one!

Access: Early access is available only for select stores in the US and Canada. 

8. Shop Store Updates

Shopify has now made it easier to reach and engage with your mobile shoppers. You can now customize your Shop Store with video, image, and slogan headers, or showcase your inventory with customizable collections, categories, and navigation.
What we love: Personalized recommendations based on customers’ browsing and purchase history. Seamless integration with other Shopify features, such as tracking orders, saving favorite products, and using Shop Pay for accelerated checkout.
Access: Available for all Shopify merchants in the US Plan. Some features in early access.

9. Shopify Marketplace Connect

Inventory and pricing across different marketplaces causing you sleepless nights? You can now expand your brand’s reach and sales effortlessly by integrating your Shopify product catalog with leading marketplaces such as eBay, Amazon, and more.
What we love: Setting up the app is effortless. Once you select the marketplaces you want to connect to and the products you’d like to sell, the app automatically syncs these products (prices, inventory, etc) to ensure consistency across channels. Plus, you get a whole host of performance metrics from across multiple platforms to optimize your sourcing and marketing efforts.
Access: Available for all Shopify merchants. Some features are available for Shopify Plus subscribers only.

Coming Up: Shopify Markets

Want to sell internationally? Shopify’s soon-to-be-announced Shopify Markets will offer an integrated product to simplify global commerce for merchants. With a centralized hub for managing international sales, the suite will offer distinct storefronts with currency conversion, automated tax calculation, and shipping. Not only will this create a quicker and more trustworthy shopping experience, but it’ll also reduce manual work (and the risk of errors or non-compliance) for sellers.
